What exactly is grocery store ground coffee?

Grocery store ground coffee is ground coffee that’s brand packaged in a bag or can.

Brand examples are Chock full o’Nuts and Café Bustelo. I’m familiar with those brands, and I like the taste of their coffee.

☝🏼

Heat the water

Fill your insulated travel mug with filtered water.

I usually fill mine with water up to the brim. Because I love coffee, I like having as much coffee as my mug can hold. Also, coffee grounds absorb water.

Pour all the water into your stovetop or electric water kettle.

Note 📝

Though I included an electric water kettle in the above list, I’ll use a stovetop water kettle in this how-to. 🧐

Light the gas burner to medium-high heat.

Set your kitchen timer for two minutes and 45 seconds.

I usually heat my water for two minutes and 45 seconds. This is before my water begins to boil; however, follow your preferred time length.

After two minutes and 45 seconds are up, set your timer for one minute to allow the heated water to settle.

Caution! Hot water! Be careful

☝🏼

Measure your coffee

Measure out the ground coffee using your measuring spoon or scroop.

I usually measure about two level tablespoons of coffee. But measure your coffee amount according to your preference.

Add your measured coffee grounds to your French press.

☝🏼

Bloom your coffee grounds

Before handling your hot water kettle, wear your kitchen mitten to protect yourself against burns!

Pour a small amount (less than a half inch from the bottom of the carafe) of hot water into your French press.

Set your kitchen timer for one minute to bloom your coffee grounds.

Blooming the coffee grounds certainly brings out its deliciousness. I learned this tip from the Chock full o’Nuts website. 👍🏼

☝🏼

Brew your coffee

After one minute is up, set your kitchen timer for eight minutes or your preferred time length. I time the brewing for eight minutes because I like bitter and caffeine-loaded coffee.

Pour all the remaining hot water into your French press.

Stir the mixture for about 10 seconds (one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three…😅) with your long-handled wooden spoon.

Cover the French press carafe with its lid, plunger, and filter, and don’t let the metal touch the brewing coffee!

☝🏼

Enjoy

Once eight minutes is up, slowly push down the plunger.

Carefully pour your brewed coffee into your travel mug.

Brewed coffee tip

The brewed coffee liquid might often reach the travel mug’s brim, preventing you from screwing on the lid.

Use a spoon to “drink” the excess to prevent you from spilling your coffee and burning 🔥 your lips. Like you’re eating coffee soup. 😁

Enjoy your freshly brewed coffee. 🥰☕
